This is a wonderful vintage sterling silver brooch made in the form of a Latin dancer playing maracas.  The piece is marked “Alero Sterling Silver” on the backside - Alero was a Mexican maker.  I believe that the piece dates to the 1930s.  I’ve seen other examples of the this brooch, marked differently or not at all, and they lack the detail on this piece.  The brooch measures 2 5/8” in height and 1 7/8” in width - it weighs 0.5 of an ounce.  It is in very good condition with no pronounced wear.

This is a very cute figural brooch - wonderful for the Latin enthusiast!
